Horn Antenna Applications

  Tue, 29/03/2022

Horn antennas are very popular from 200 MHz frequency to higher frequencies up to 40GHz. The horn antenna has a distinctive design that is enlarged towards the end. Horn antennas typically feature a directional radiation pattern with a high antenna gain of 10-20 dBi, some antennas have a higher gain such as the standard horn antenna up to 25 dBi. Horn antennas feature a low VSWR and a wide impedance bandwidth. As the frequency of operation is increased, the gain of horn antennas increases. This is because the horn aperture is always measured in wavelengths; the horn antenna is "electrically larger" at higher frequencies because a higher frequency has a smaller wavelength. The advantages of FT-RF Horn antenna: Moderate directivity, low standing wave ratio (SWR), broad bandwidth Easy waveguide interface: These antennas are very easy to interface to the waveguide due to their shape, but they can also be designed with a transition so that a regular coaxial feeder can be used. Simple construction and adjustment ODM OEM OBM & RD services. Horn antennas are easy to make and put together. Each type of antenna has a wide range of applications: Broadband Horn Antenna: Antenna Measurement EMC/ RF Measurement Surveillance System Radar Detection System Quad-ridged Horn Antenna: Antenna Measurement Electromagnetic Measurement Electromagnetic Compatibility Testing (EMC test) Ultra-wideband Radar...

EMC Antenna - Horn Antenna Calibration Methods

  Tue, 14/12/2021

How to test EMC Antenna - Dual Polarized Horn Antennas ( Quad ridged horn antenna & Open boundary quad ridged horn antenna? The Dual Polarized Horn Antenna includes HQ model - Quad-ridged Horn Antenna, Open Boundary Quad-Ridged Horn Antenna -HR Model. These Horn antennas have an electronic switch that may simultaneously test horizontal and vertical or +-45deg polarization, as well as a couple that can test circular polarization. The dual-polarized antennas are mounted on a special table or wall. FT-RF also supply the calibration service for these antennas in case the customer wants to use them for a certain purpose. How to test EMC Antenna - Single-polarized Horn Antennas (Double ridged horn antenna & Open boundary double ridged horn antenna)? HA Model - Double-Ridged Horn Antenna & HB model - Open Boundary Double-Ridged Horn Antenna are commonly used to replace the antenna method's calibration antenna. When HA calibration is utilized, the calibration site is lost (patch loss uses a network analyzer) Enter the antenna's gain (minus the gain of the antenna, equal to the address of the object under test, return to zero) There is only one technique to compute antenna gain. The path loss patch loss subtracts the antenna's gain and substitutes the antenna under test to obtain the antenna's gain. Rotate the object under test...
